Welcome to Enugu State Agricultural Development Programme

Enugu State Agricultural Development Program (ENADEP) is Enugu State Parastatal that is an extension and advisory arm of Enugu State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

ENADEP emanated from Agriculture Development Programme in Nigeria. Agriculture Development Programme in Nigeria acts as a vehicle in which the donor - assisted and Federal Government Agricultural projects come into the thirty -six ( 36) State.

ENADEP was established by the Enugu State Edict No 1 of 1992, after bifurcation from the old Anambra State Agricultural Development Programme (ASADEP) in 1991, and under multistate Agricultural Development Programme 1 (.MSADP-1) MS- ADP-1.

Nationally commenced operation in 1987 under the sponsorship of the World Bank ( International Bank for Rural Development (IBRD) ENADEP 's goal is to plans and implement new agricultural projects aim to increase agricultural production and raise the standard of living of rural farmers through the application of modern-proven technologies and innovations.

ENADEP collaborates with research institutes, federal, state and Local government agricultural agencies, World Bank Institutions, and other international organizations to train farmers through extension programme. The focuses of ENADEP programmes are on small-scale farmers, commercial Agriculture project, unemployed youths and women.

ENADEP wishes to promote government economic diversification drive and creating market access through food processing and packaging, reduction of hunger through collaboration to improve agricultural productivity, healthcare and living standard of rural farmers in Enugu State.

Our History

Enugu State Agricultural Programme is one of the 36 States Agricultural Development Programmes (ADPs) in Nigeria aimed at increasing agricultural production and improving farmers' conditions. Some early important features of ADPs were the contruction of road infrastructures within farming areas. ADPs were also making provisions for water for animals and crops, provision for extension services, market access, credit facilities for farmers. ADPs used to be a tripartite development initiative among the World Bank, the Federal Government, and State Governments. There have been drastic changes on the funding of ADPs in recent years in many states. ENADEP which came into existence after the creation of Enugu State from old Anambra State in 1991, has embarked in many special projects aimed at fulfilling its edit of establishment.
